Case Study
Recap: When the air compressors in a major gas company’s facility broke down, the company was facing drastic revenue loss. After the company reviewed its options, only OTC could provide compressors on the scale needed to solve the problem.
Our Challenge
Faced with the critical failure of two massive air compressors, a major gas company’s entire operation had to shut down. During this downtime, the company was losing thousands of dollars each minute. These compressors were massive and not easily replaced.
Due to the compressors’ unique build and operational requirements, there was no easy way to replace or repair them without significant lost revenue. Ordering new compressors would take months, and there was no way production could be shut down that long. With no easy solution, the company turned to multiple suppliers for help.

Our Solution
After being contacted by the company, the OTC team immediately set to work on a solution. As the only supplier in the country with a fleet of specialized compressors and with an extensive and deep inventory of available equipment, OTC was able to identify three compressors that could overcome the deficiency caused by the broken equipment.
This solution offered many benefits to the manufacturer. If it had gone with another option, the customer would have needed to rent 60 to 70 compressors to equal the same power provided by the three recommended by OTC. Installing the smaller compressors would have been much more complicated and time consuming. In addition, the smaller compressors run on diesel, while the air compressors suggested by OTC use electricity. This made them less expensive to operate for the client.
The unrivaled service and rapid response to the challenge meant that the client’s operation was working within days rather than months
Results
The OTC automation team worked closely with the manufacturer's team at the site to safely remove the old curtains and install the new ones. The goal was to minimize disruption at the site and ensure the new curtains would be a reliable solution to the frequent downtime.
The installation was a tremendous success. “The install process was seamless and allowed production to start up earlier than expected to meet supply demands." - stated the manufacturing customer.
